Terms of Service
Rooted Wealth is a financial tracking and planning tool. Its data, calculations, forecasts, and AI responses can be incomplete or wrong. Verify them independently before making financial, investment, or tax decisions.
1. Your agreement
These terms are between you and the person or organization operating the Rooted Wealth instance you use (the “operator”). The operator’s identity and support contact are provided on the sign-in or account-creation screen. “Service” means this instance of Rooted Wealth and its related features.
By selecting the agreement checkbox when creating an account or opening Tax Planning, you agree to the displayed version of these terms prospectively. Existing use is not treated as acceptance of a new version merely because this page changes. You must be at least 18 and legally able to enter this agreement. If you do not agree, do not create an account.
2. Information and planning only
The Service organizes records and produces estimates for your own use. It does not execute trades, hold your money or securities, prepare or file tax returns, or verify that an investment or strategy is suitable for you.
Nothing in the Service, including AI responses, research, ratings, or outlooks, is a personalized recommendation to buy, sell, or hold a security, a promise of results, or professional investment, financial, tax, accounting, or legal advice. Using the Service does not establish an adviser-client, fiduciary, brokerage, or other professional relationship. Obtain qualified professional advice when needed.
3. Your responsibilities
- Provide an email you control, maintain access to it, and protect your password, recovery links, devices, and API credentials. Notify the operator of suspected unauthorized access.
- Enter only information you are authorized to use. Check imported records, holdings, transactions, account types, prices, tax classifications, deductions, and assumptions against your own records and authoritative sources.
- Independently verify outputs before relying on them. You are responsible for your investment choices, financial decisions, tax filings, payments, and compliance with applicable law.
- Keep independent copies of important records. The Service is not a replacement for brokerage statements, bank records, tax documents, or your own backups.
- Review third-party service terms and charges before enabling an integration. You are responsible for use and charges under your API accounts that you authorize.
Your responsibility for these choices does not remove the operator’s legal duties or rights that applicable law gives you.
4. Estimates, market data, and AI
Market prices, distributions, news, property values, and other third-party information may be delayed, missing, inaccurate, or later revised. Automatic classifications and fallback values are assumptions, not confirmed facts. The Service may use stale data or approximate missing observations; review the explanation shown for each feature.
Tax and debt calculations are simplified estimates based on selected rules and information available to the Service. They may omit transactions, deductions, state or local rules, withdrawal taxes, fees, or other circumstances. Verify all relevant treatment using current official guidance and your financial records.
Projections and Monte Carlo simulations describe hypothetical outcomes from chosen assumptions and historical samples. They do not predict actual returns or guarantee a range of outcomes. Investments can lose value, including principal; actual results can be worse than the examples shown.
AI can generate plausible but false facts, reasoning, calculations, and references. Summaries may omit important context. Read the underlying sources and do not rely on AI output as your sole basis for a decision.
4a. Tax Planning Beta and risks across all pages
Tax Planning is an experimental Beta feature. Its estimates may be inaccurate, incomplete, outdated or unavailable. Access requires an explicit, unchecked agreement checkbox. Acceptance of version 2026-10-04 is recorded with a server-generated time for the signed-in account; material revisions require renewed acceptance. You can decline and use other pages.
Tax Planning supports educational scenario comparisons only. It is not a tax return, filing service, calculation of your complete liability, determination of eligibility, or substitute for a qualified tax professional. The operator does not undertake to prepare returns, identify every filing obligation, monitor deadlines, or verify your records.
Errors can arise from software defects, rounding, timing, missing or stale information, imported data, incorrect classifications or assumptions, and changes in law. Estimates may omit income, realized gains or losses, carryforwards, deductions, credits, withholding, estimated payments, alternative minimum tax, retirement withdrawals, penalties, filing circumstances, and federal, state, local or foreign rules. Reference tables may use earlier published years when current tables are unavailable. A zero, blank or unavailable result does not establish that no tax is owed or that a position is lawful.
You must independently verify all inputs, rules, outputs and eligibility against current official guidance and your records. Consult a qualified professional before filing, making tax payments, changing withholding, claiming deductions or credits, or implementing a financial strategy. You remain responsible for returns, payments, deadlines, records and decisions, subject to the operator’s nonwaivable duties.
Beta behavior and calculations may change, be interrupted or be discontinued. Keep independent copies and backups. Do not use these estimates as your sole basis for a filing, payment or financial decision.
Accuracy limitations apply throughout the Service, including Overview, Portfolios, Assets & Liabilities, Net Worth, Expenses, Tax Planning, Income, Projections, Research, AI Chat and future features. Tracking values, classifications, tax estimates, news explanations, property estimates, forecasts and AI output can be wrong. Hypothetical projections are not guarantees, and AI may invent information. No page creates a professional advisory relationship or guarantees suitability or results.
The warranty exclusions and liability limits in sections 8 and 9 apply to Tax Planning and all other pages. Where law permits, excluded reliance losses include tax shortfalls, interest, penalties, missed deductions or credits, filing errors, investment losses and lost opportunities arising from independent decisions or unverified output. This agreement is not an unconditional release of the operator from every claim: fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, unlawful conduct and nonwaivable consumer, privacy and statutory rights remain protected.
Report suspected errors using the operator’s support contact. Reporting an issue does not transfer filing or payment responsibility to the operator, promise a correction by a deadline, or extend a statutory deadline.
5. Your data and connected services
You retain your rights in information you supply. You authorize the operator to store and process it as needed to provide, secure, and support the Service, as explained in the Privacy Notice. Enabling or using a connected feature authorizes the data transfers necessary for that feature; review its disclosure before using it.
Third-party providers operate under their own terms and privacy practices. Links and news coverage do not imply endorsement. Your API credentials authorize access to the provider you configure and should have only the permissions needed.
6. Acceptable use
You may use the Service lawfully for its intended tracking and planning functions. Do not access another person’s records without permission; upload malicious material; impersonate others; infringe others’ rights; bypass authentication, usage limits, or bot protections; or interfere with the Service. Report suspected vulnerabilities privately to the operator. These terms do not restrict security research or other rights protected by applicable law.
7. Availability and ending access
Features and providers can change, and the Service may be interrupted or discontinued. The operator may restrict or suspend access when reasonably necessary to address abuse, security threats, legal requirements, or a material breach of these terms. When practical and lawful, the operator will provide notice and a reasonable opportunity to resolve the issue or export your records.
You may stop using the Service at any time. Account and data deletion requests are explained in the Privacy Notice. Deleting an account does not automatically cancel a separate third-party API subscription or delete copies you have exported.
8. No guaranteed results or warranties
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of accuracy, completeness, availability, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement. The operator does not promise uninterrupted service, error-free calculations, secure operation in every circumstance, or any particular financial result.
These exclusions do not affect warranties, consumer guarantees, security obligations, or remedies that cannot lawfully be excluded.
9. Limits on liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, the operator is not responsible for losses resulting from your independent financial decisions, inaccurate information you provide, or your reliance on unverified estimates, third-party information, or AI output. Subject to the same limits, the operator is not liable for indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages, including lost profits, lost investment opportunities, or loss of data, arising from use of the Service.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability for fraud, willful misconduct, gross negligence, unlawful conduct, or any other liability that applicable law does not permit to be excluded or limited. Nothing waives your nonwaivable consumer, privacy, or statutory rights. Where an exclusion is not permitted, it applies only to the extent the law allows.
10. Changes and interpretation
The operator may update these terms, identify the new version and effective date, and notify users of material changes. Changes apply prospectively. Where renewed agreement is legally required, it must be obtained before those changes apply. Updating this page alone does not waive your existing rights.
If a provision cannot be enforced, it applies to the extent permitted, and the remaining provisions continue where lawful. These terms do not select an exclusive court, require arbitration, or waive class proceedings; any such arrangement would require a separate, legally valid agreement.
Contact the operator
For account, privacy, or terms questions, use the operator’s support contact on the sign-in screen. Rooted Wealth installations can be operated independently; contact the operator of the instance where you created your account.
